Matching Contribution, Bereavement, and Vacation. The current medical plan
will remain intact with
an option allowing employees to choose different plans which will be made available
by the company. There were also language changes which better defines
issues such as "Scheduled Changes and Overtime."
Final copies of the agreement will be available soon.
September 22,
Today the company and
union reviewed language and economic aspects of the tentative agreement and
we will now bring it back to our members for their approval. Meetings to
explain the Tentative Contract Agreement and to answer any questions will
take place at the Union Hall on Thursday September 29, at 6:45 a.m., 11:00
a.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. On the 29th
voting polls will be open throughout the day between the hours of 6:00 a.m.
and 7 p.m. to allow members an opportunity to vote FOR or
AGAINST the Tentative Agreement. The union hall is located at
14015 East Trent Ave. For more information please call us at 924-2650.
September 21,
Today, we met and
exchanged several counter proposals related to language changes, wages, and
benefits. We worked late but, ended the day with what we believe is a
tentative agreement worth bringing back and recommending to our members. As
you know, tentative agreements are subject to a ratification vote by our
members.
September 20,
Today counter proposals were exchanged between the
company and union and we continued to discuss our issues and what we would
like to see in the next contract. At the current time we still seem to be a
long way apart on our proposals . We will meet again tomorrow to talk more
about language changes and economics.
September 19,
Today's meeting with the company was productive. In
addition to continuing the discussions over non-economic issues, the
parties exchanged economic proposals. We remain optimistic that we will have
something to bring back and present to our members before the end of the
month. As more information becomes available we will notify you here at this
web page.
September 8,
We met with the company today and continued to discuss
proposed changes to the non-economic portion of the agreement. Except
for a slight interruption in the process where we heard three outstanding
step-3 grievances, we had a productive day of talks with the company.
We will resume negotiations the week of September 19, and expect to wrap up
most of our no-economic issues at that time and move on to our economic
proposals. We'll keep you posted on how the negotiations are progressing as
information becomes available.
September 7,
Today, we reviewed the non-economic proposals that
were exchanged yesterday. The overall discussions were productive and both
sides had an opportunity to talk about their reasoning for wanting/needing
changes to the language.
September 6,
We opened negotiations today with a presentation from
the company on the current business conditions. following the
presentation the parties exchanged non-economic proposals and began
discussions over the proposed changes. both sides have agreed to deal with
the non-economic issues before moving on to the economic items in our
proposals, such as wages and benefits. The current contract expires on
October 1, 2011 and we are attempting to reach some sort of an agreement
with the company before the current collective bargaining agreement expires.
As most of you know, any proposal that is worth bringing back to our members
will be subject to a ratification vote by the membership.
" DIVIDED WE BEG - UNITED WE BARGAIN"

for a fair and equitable contract!
