I'm not sure what to
think?
We keep on
hearing how business is staying at the same levels as
last year. But what we see are levels greater than
predicted every month, just as last year. "Oh' that's
just a surge and it won't sustain next month or the
future." Yet every month that same surge happens. I am
beginning to wonder if the business forecast is kept low
to justify the manpower shortage.
I believe the current
management uses "The Command and Control Method." My
interpretation of this method is, "Employees should fear
their managers more than all the working conditions to
which they are exposed.....Good will can never induce
the common employee to stand up to such
conditions; he/she will never do so through fear of
losing their job." The Command and Control form of
management is based on the military management.
Primarily, the idea is that people do what you tell them
to do, and if they don't, you yell at them, ( in our
situation, discipline or more common fire them) until
they do, and if they still don't, you throw them in the
brig for a while. Look around and see how many military
managers have been hired.
How many times have we
participated in the different events put on by
management? How many times have we been told THANKS
for your input but NO THANKS. I was just introduced to
another concept of management, it's called
"Participative Leadership." Bottom line, "Several people
deciding together make better decisions than one person
alone." NOT with this management!
We as a UNION stand up
together for collective bargaining, rates of pay,
wages, hours or other conditions of employment.
Collectively we stand up for working conditions, a safe
work environment FREE of harassment, to ensure justice
and dignity on the job. Collectively we can make a
difference.
Remember why we are
the UNION!
