Local 338 is an amalgamated union representing four separate bargaining units: Kaiser Aluminum - production/maintenance and clerical/technical workers, Kaiser Alutek workers, and LB Foster pre-cast/railroad ties division workers. We number more than 1000 private sector members who work primarily in manufacturing industries in North Eastern Washington.

Keeping retirees connected with events and issues that take place around them is what our local SOAR group is all about. We meet on the third Tuesday during the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Meetings take place at Local 338’s Union Hall which is located at 14015 East Trent Avenue in the Spokane Valley. Meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. but if you get there early you’ll have time to visit with fellow retirees over a cup of coffee.

Our SOAR meetings feature interesting speakers who share information about important issues that affect all of us. We are always open to suggestions from our members for guest speakers that we can invite to future meetings and events.
During the summer Local 338 sponsors an annual picnic for our retirees and current active members. This is strictly a “Union” picnic where Steelworkers can get together for some fun and a chance to reminisce with old friends.

If you are a new retiree of Local 338 we would like to pay for your first year’s membership in the local SOAR group. To join, just stop by the union hall 14015 E Trent in the Spokane Valley and pick up an enrollment form.
